PROGRAM IDEA: WHO WOULD HAVE IMAGINED? by Carol Morris Who would have imagined forty years ago that the perception of a woman would have declined to the levels of today's standard? Who would have imagined it being common place for a woman to curse and use foul language in public with no shame? Who would have imagined a woman thinking it fashionable to have tattoos and multiple body piercings? Who would have imagined a woman putting herself before her unborn child? Who would have imagined women baring their breasts in public to protest? Who would have imagined mothers encouraging their daughters to dress to seduce? Who would have imagined the epidemic of STD's among our teenagers? Who would have imagined that our teenagers would be into self-mutilation for a new thrill? These are just a smattering of the concerns for our young women today. No longer is there a standard, the bar has not just been lowered it has been thrown out. It's time that we asked ourselves the question "How did we get to this place?" "Do we have the courage to take the steps to change in order to bring value and honor back to being a woman"? There has to be boundaries in everyone's lives or we will self-destruct. The destruction of our nation will be from the inside out. We are talking about the generations that will be our future parents and leaders. If they have no center for right and wrong, what is honorable and worthwhile, we are going to be in serious jeopardy in the next twenty years David Green made profound statement when he said, "Our purpose has to be something beyond our lifetime". It is our responsibility to teach and lead the young men and women in our nation in the paths of fidelity, honesty, moral integrity, commitment, and the good of the people. Right now, it's all about "for the good of me". "For the good of the people" is not necessarily the path of least resistance. Many times "for the good of the people" requires some hard decisions that aren't popular or politically correct. Sometimes drastic measures have to be taken to stop the destructive trends in order for there to be a productive and strong future. Will we be faithful to the future generations and take action in regards to family and home, morality issues, the educational demise, our judicial system, political arena and the nation as a whole? We have to start now. The family dinner table with a mother and father is becoming more rare all the time. Women and men have become independent of one another. Men no longer respect women because women want to be one of the boys. We will be our own judge and jury. We will determine the verdict—faithful or faithless! What legacy will we leave? |
